Wood fragrances are part of the reason I began making candles, 10 years ago.

Cedarwood, sandalwood, palo santo, and woodsmoke have appeared throughout many Light Provisions blends over the years. For this collection, I wanted to simplify the compositions and give each one enough room to stand on its own.

For a long time, I was reluctant to release scents this focused because I had convinced myself that every fragrance needed to be custom, complex, and layered like a well-made cocktail. Eventually, I realized that wood already contains multitudes. Its character comes from the grain, resin, earth, smoke, warmth, age, and even the conditions in which it grew.

Woods Chapter explores that complexity through four distinct interpretations. The surrounding notes are still carefully composed to create depth, but this time, the wood gets to lead.

A reminder: what is On Rotation?

On Rotation is where I explore limited-batch scents outside the permanent Light Provisions collection. The Woods Chapter is the first focused group within it, returning to the wood fragrances that first made me want to make candles nearly a decade ago through four distinct interpretations: Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Palo Santo, and Woodsmoke. I’ll continue pouring them in small batches for as long as there’s demand, leaving room for new ideas while making it possible to revisit old ones.

Four ways into the woods:

Cedarwood
Dry and direct. Fresh-cut cedar, pencil shavings, stacked lumber, and a faint trace of smoke.

Sandalwood
Cool, damp, and green. Sandalwood softened by moss, balsamic woods, incense, and saffron.

Palo Santo
Fuller and smokier than our familiar Palo Santo & Ginger. Dry wood, smoked cedar, amber, and soft vanilla suede.

Woodsmoke
Warm, resinous, and gently sweet. Less cold ash, more lingering firelight in a darkened room.

Local glass, kept in rotation

I’ve always loved finding new uses for objects that have already lived one life, which is what drew me to these vessels. Each one begins as a wine bottle collected from restaurants and bars in Colorado Springs, then sorted by color, cut down, cleaned, and finished into candle glass (or drinking glasses or utensil glasses or incense holders or salt cellars
